I took my first UW class in Spain.
Before I started classes in Seattle in September 2014, I studied abroad as a Fellow for UW's Center for 21st Century Liberal Learning. As a C21 Fellow, I met a lot of students who I continue to collaborate with today. C21 also allowed me to spend time thinking about the power of story and the value of the liberal arts in all settings.
After a year with C21, I joined its Learning Council, which worked heavily on how to help undergraduate students (especially freshmen) learn how to tell the story of their college educations. This means we tested and offered feedback on a lot of proposed activities before other C21 Fellows did them. A lot of that work happened on the same weekend as the attempted cooking shown in this photo. During the Spring, I also helped with marketing C21 to incoming and first-year UW students by tabling and staffing events.
